System Security Awareness for Passenger Vessel Employees

Length: 5-6 hours (Regional Train-the-Trainer)

Audience:
System Security Awareness for Passenger Vessel Employees was developed in response to the need for front-line employee training on security and terrorism. Front-line employees and their immediate supervisors (vessel and facility) are essential to preventing and responding to security related incidents.

Description:

This course has been designed to comply with the Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2002 (MTSA) and specific portions of United States Coast Guard regulations currently in force for maritime security of vessels and maritime security of facilities. The regulations specifically relevant here are 33CFR104.220 and 33CFR104.225 for company or vessel personnel and 33CFR105.220 and 33CFR105.215 for facility personnel.

The goals of this course are to provide employees with the knowledge and skills to:

• Define their role and responsibilities in system security
• Recognize suspicious activities, packages, devices and substances
• Recognize techniques used to circumvent security measures
• Observe and report relevant information
• Minimize harm to themselves and others

To accomplish these goals, the course integrates lecture, visual aids, participant interaction and small-group exercises.

Delivery Options:

Regional Train-the-Trainer – NTI is conducting a series of FREE one-day Regional Train-the-Trainer courses. Participants preview the course and discuss how they can use NTI’s materials to implement it at their organization. Each participant receives an Instructor Package that includes an Instructor Guide, Course Slides and Instructor Notes and a Participant Workbook in hard copy and electronic format. See below to register for a Regional Train-the-Trainer course. Registration preference will be given to publicly funded passenger vessel operations.

Fee:
Tuition shall be waived for federal, state and local government employees who work in transportation or related areas.
